To start this cleaning, carefully remove the stem of the pipe from the bowl and lay the two pieces on a paper towel. Dip a regular pipe cleaner in alcohol and run it through the stem, from the tenon to the mouthpiece, pulling it through. It will most likely come out with a bit of black or brown gunk on it.
- A point will be reached at which your pipe is caked solid. Time for a big cleanup. Crack is highly soluble in alcohol (ethanol). You run a cubic inch of ethanol through the pipe, reusing it each time so as not to end up with too much solution. It doesn't matter which grade of ethanol, the higher the better of course.
- Instead of scraping and prodding, try soaking it in isopropyl alcohol and salt. Sure, you can just scrape out your pipe and keep going, but sometimes the resin builds to the point where you have.
Sure, you can just scrape out your pipe and keep going, but sometimes the resin builds to the point where you have to do some deeper cleaning. Instead of scraping and prodding, try soaking it in isopropyl alcohol and salt.
The folks at over WikiHow suggest that cleaning your glass pipe doesn't have to be so hard. Just scrape off the bulk of the resin and then drop it into a Ziploc baggie with 90-100% isopropyl alcohol for a good three-hour soak. You can also use a bit of non-iodized salt as an agitator for a faster cleaning. If you add salt, you may not need to let it soak for long at all. Crow powerwave 8 installer manual. Just shake the bag until the pipe is nice and clean.

Crack Pipe Drug
I fancy myself science savvy, but I'm unsure if Hydrogen Peroxide would be a good or a bad solvent to clean a pipe. Essentially, I have no rubbing alcohol and don't feel like going out, though I do have an abundance of H2O2.
Plan: Fill sink with hot soapy water, add about 25g of H2O2, gently put dirty pipe + glass screens in the sink, let sit for 30 mins, rinse. I can't imagine it doing anything terrible, but if it turns out to make the glass sparkly clean I'd love to know the chemistry behind it.
Edit: Mixed success: it doesn't stink up the room anymore, but that could've been due to the soap, the only issue is that most of the resin is still in the pipe. I held a lighter over the bowl after wiping most of the pipe dry and small sparks came out. I figure this is because when H2O2 is heated, it produces Hydrogen and Oxygen gas, which ignited under the flame. Overall: Hydrogen Peroxide did not clean the resin.
